Weekly Obsessions 2.14.14

Date Caramels

I’m not going to lie. I’ve had a few handfuls of candy this morning and it isn’t even 9am yet. Valentine’s Day! You get me every time.

I also ate a few of these date caramels you see above. But considering they are made from coconut milk, coconut oil, dates, and dark chocolate, I’m pretty sure they actually count as breakfast. (And while I have to keep the recipe a secret for now for a super special surprise, here’s a recipe for date caramels to get you started on our own).

But just in case you are like me and have a hard time fighting off that sweet tooth today, let me fill you up with some of my favorite sweet links from the week.

SHOW LOW-SO LOVE: It’s that time of year…nominations for theKitchn.com’s Homie Awards! If you like what you see, nominate Sodium Girl HERE for best health and diet blog.

BAKE WITH LOVE: Ditch plastic store-bought stuff. Make these cupcakes. Then top them with coconut ice cream and these homemade sprinkles.

NEW LOVE: Website obsessed. Mostly because of these “rawlos” (ie date caramels and chocolate, ie genius, ie eating these all)

GREEN LOVE:  Roses are red, violets are blue, and leafy greens are super easy to make. It’s called balance people.

LOVE THESE: Crispy cinnamon tortilla hearts. No other four words ever sounded so beautiful.

LOVE STORIES: For your listening pleasure, Ira Glass from NPR’s This American Life takes over the Google Doodle for the day. Press on the candy hearts and here real people talk about real loves.
