This is wild rice, pomegranate stuffing.
It was my take on a recipe I found in one of these torn pages from one of many holiday-themed magazines.
It was a dish that my mom specially requested for Thanksgiving. And one I happily made over for my salt-free diet.
I added pickled cherries and pomegranates. Caramelized onions and fennel. And fresh apple and dill for some bite.
And soon, I not only fulfilled my mother’s holiday cravings, but I had created a new recipe and tradition of my own.
I want the same to be true for you and your holidays this year.
So while I take a little break this weekend, send me your recipe Q & A’s.
Do you hope for a honey baked ham on the table? Wondering if there’s any chance for sauerkraut this year? Wishing you could have savory latkes? Are you hankering for egg nog?
You’ve been nice. Really, really nice. So send your holiday wishes to SodiumGirl’s FACEBOOK page or to @sodium girl on TWITTER and I’ll give you all the tips you need to keep all the traditions and foods you want.
And next week, look forward to my low-sodium holiday gift list that you can send to family and friends. Because nothing is better than the gift of health. And a new set of spices.
I’ll be checking regularly all weekend, so get busy!
And ask on.
Is the recipe for your wild rice, pomegranate stuffing pictured in your 12/16/11 blog available? It looks delicious, but I can’t seem to find the actual recipe anywhere.
Hi Laurie! A couple people have asked for it, so I will definitely post in the coming weeks. I just have to remember how I made it first! Ha! Thanks for requesting!
